I see a guy pushing a cart, he isn’t someone I have bumped into before although I haven’t really met many, I had left Lily to socialise and internet while I checked the place out. This place was just so open, it was worrying that it didn’t really have any defences what so ever.
I see the guy wave and at first I just give a nod before deciding I should make an effort to interact a little “Hey” I say when I reach him “I’m Liam”
Surprisingly he makes his way over after I wave. Out of habit I’m slightly on guard but I try not to show it while I take my gloves off. He comes closer and says his name is Liam. Upon a closer look, he has GOT to be Lily’s brother. I reach out with my hand extended. “Hey, I’m Prometheus. I just arrived a couple of hours ago with my sister. Just curious, are you Lily’s brother?”

Luna starts talking about how she knows Genesis. All of a sudden she compliments me and I give a little smile then look away in embarrassment.
I hand Fenella over to her. I can tell she already has some sort of bond with her and I can tell Fenella likes her. I’ll never be able to get over her smile. Suddenly Luna kisses me on the cheek. I start to laugh. I don’t know why but I laugh for a little bit. ”Well to answer your question, Genesis didn’t really like my friends. I don’t blame her tbh. They were the popular kids after all.”
I started to eat.
I take his hand give it a quick but firm shake “Yeah shes my sister, I’m guessing she either talked your head off or said few words she doesn’t have an inbtween mode” I say “You came with your sister too? I am assuming you’ve been through the city… Didn’t you find this place a little too easy to just walk into? I mean don’t get me wrong I am greatful we were welcome but I know what kinda of people are out there and what they would do to raid a place like this”
He accepts my handshake and I give his hand a firm shake and introduces himself as Liam. I introduce myself. “I’m, Prometheus.” I let go of the cart and turn to face him. “Yea, Lily said a few words. One of them being that she has a twin brother. That was about it so far. I noticed that you look just like her but…, a guy,” I say and chuckle. He asks about my sister. “She’s actually my best friend. I’ve known her since she was a little girl. So she might as well be my sister hence why I call her that,” I explain.
He then asks me about coming from the city.
“We were there for a day. We tried to make the big meeting but missed it by a day and a half,” I answer and then feel I should tell him a little bit more.
“We’re from the country too. Luna was my neighbor. We lived opposite direction from here. We left the city and happened upon here by following the road in. Luckily for me, this is Devon’s place. I’ve known him for a few years and Luna knows Genesis from school,” I explain. “I do get what you mean though about those rough looking folks from the city and it worries the hell out of me. I saw the groups out there. They didn’t come after us but I paid attention. After I fix the north fence I’m going to look around see about adding some security measures to the perimeters. Ya know?”

I smile when Sabrina looked away. I made her blush. She tells me that her friends were the popular kids in High School. I look from Fenella for a second. “It’s so weird that we went to school together and knew Gigi but that we never met. I was friends with everyone because my sister Renee, was friends with everyone. Even the popular kids. She was on every dance committee and the Student Council.” I stop talking for a moment and rock Fenella back and forth. “At least you and Gigi are friends now. I am also glad that you and I are becoming friends. Pratt talked about you favorably. Says you’re one of the few true and kind people in this world. I agree.” I give her a smile and she turns to eat.
I look at Fenella. She’s smiling and looking me. I smile back at her, raise my finger up and take a deep breath. I start gently letting it out and making the noise, "Oh, oh, oh, as I carefully bring my finger closer. I gently tap her nose. “Boop.” She lets out the cutest laugh. I hear the front door open and see the large girl leaving. She leaves without a word and shuts the door. I go to make a comment to Sabrina but then look down to see Fenella closing her eyes and falling asleep. I smile at the site and hold back my tears this time.
“Enjoy it while you can kid,” I whisper.

She mentions Renee. Oh yeah I remember her. She was really sweet” I say this as I’m finishing a mouth of food. I remember being a good dancer. She always was at the front setting an example or leading the way. I was quite jealous of how good she was sometimes.
I watch as Fenella closes her eyes and drifts into a slumber. I smile.

Sabrina took a moment to think. She then remembered my sister.
“She was sweet. I miss her terribly. Pratt does too.” To hold back my tears again, I look down at Fenella asleep in my arms. She so darling. I see Sabrina smiling. It makes me smile. I can guess she harbors a lot of sadness behind those eyes.
“She’s darling, Sabrina. Does she often fall asleep for just anyone?” I ask changing the subject.

I nod “Thats a good idea, how these guys are going to decide who is friend and who is foe will be difficult, they seem fairly trusting of new faces, I say this even though its worked out in mine and Lils favour but as someone who takes care of somebody else so to speak, you always need to be on the defensive” I say.
“Shes an odd one is Lils, she had always been in the popular crowd at school but she’d much prefer to be off on her own. What about Luna?” I ask
I listen to what this guy has to say. he makes very good points.
“I gotta agree with you there. They are bit too trusting but at least Luna and I didn’t have to get approved by the pretty boy. Then there was that girl who stopped by and took a nap and left. Can’t be having that happen very often. Luna is all I have left from before the virus. I heard there is a small child here. I don’t trust folks very quickly or very easily, so perhaps with me here, that will change. If there was a way to wall off the town but it would take ages to build that. You seem a smart and protective guy. Perhaps you and I can brainstorm something,” I say and look around.
He tells me a little bit about Lily and asks about Luna. I chuckle and shake my head.
“Luna was like her sister. She was friends with pretty much everyone from every group. She likes to keep a small and close circle. She’s very social and outgoing. Don’t be afraid to treat her like one of the guys,” I say with a laugh. He has no idea.
“Wanna help me fix the fence? You can tell me more about yourself and Lily,” I suggest. This is my VERY hard attempt to be friendly for Luna’s sake.

Poor Luna. To lose a sister in such a way. I continue eating thinking about everything that everyone has lost from this epidemic. And how damaged some people must be. Luna asks me something about Fenella. ” Well she hasn’t really been in anyone else’s arm so I guess not” I smile

I smile at Sabrina’s answer and continue to gently rock Fenella. “I am honored then.” I take a hand run it through her hair. “How do you keep the blue streaks so well? I could never keep mine in. I would like to add some color into this ginger mess now that I’m around new people. It will help me feel… less awkward. You know what I mean?”

“I just used bleach with my Mum and I keep dying it again. It is fading a little bit now” I take a few more bites of food.
Luna
Perhaps sometime you could help me with my hair. I’d like to add some nice streaks to mine." I suggest and smile. I feel Fenella shift in my arms.
“Do you have a bassinet for her or something to keep her in when you go about? I can build you one. Then that would free up your arms to know she wont up and disappear and then you can do other things or since I can tell you’re tense, I can give you a good shoulder rub sometime,” I suggest trying to sound playful and give a nervous laugh. I can’t believe I just blurted that out. Oie. I’m never this nice to a stranger but she is different and she is so beautiful. I just want to keep spending time with her.

Why is this girl being so nice to me.
I look at her and smile. lt’s okay really. She’s a really easy baby and since I don’t go out much, if I do I usually just put her in a comfortable spot. Plus I wouldn’t have the hands to carry a bassinet around” I giggle

“Oh, you know have a point.” I take a deep breath.
“I’m sorry if I’m becoming too much or coming off too strong. I’m a bit shy around new people and either say too much or not enough. Especially someone I like right off the bat and want to be friends with. Usually people become friends with me. I’m new to being the one making friends.” I admit with a more than nervous chuckle. “Please just tell me if that’s the case.”
I close my eyes grimace. “I guess I’ll just be quiet now…” I trail off.

I laugh “Lily definetely isn’t one of the guys, she isn’t really into hugging either, she kinda just goes arkward” I say as we walk “Sure I don’t mind helping… You know in this current weather it probably wouldn’t take too long to build some higher walls, wall we need is the bricks or stone and the concrete mixers? I helped build an outhouse last year so a wall cant be harder then that” I grinned “What about you? What skills do you have?” I asked

“That’s where Luna is different. Once she gets to know you, she’s affectionate. She likes to hug and give a kiss on the cheek. Lily better let her know ahead of time and remind her three or… a hundred times,” I say and laugh. Thankfully, Liam has accepted the offer to help me fix the north fence.
He then mentions potentially building a brick wall around the town. I think about that one for a minute. “You know… That might work. Show me how it’s done and I can pick up on it quick. We could probably get Dev to help us out on that one. Luna will gladly jump in and help too.”
He mentions something about building and outhouse as we reach the broken part of the fence. As stop the cart and grab the post hole digger when he asks me about my skills. I raise my eyebrows and think about the question. I don’t want to come off as intimidating. As I stick the post hole digger into the ground and open it up, then close it and bring the dirt out.
“I am really good at building and crafting. My dad was in the service and I spent a lot of time with the engineers and learned how to build a lot of helpful stuff. I started studying more engineering books and have learned how to convert some certain gas powered items to run off of steam. Not all but I’m working on figuring that out,” I finished digging the post hole. “I’m also real handy with live stock. What about you?” I ask him.
I then lift one of the posts up over my shoulder with one arm and walk it to the hole.

She tells me not worry. I breath a sigh of relief. She seems amused. I like her. I see why Pratt speaks so fondly of her.
I watch Fenella shift around while she sleeps. She is too cute. I let Sabrina eat some more before I speak again.
“Would you mind telling me about yourself? Any old thing really? Perhaps your favorite things? What you like to do or what you did like to do before all of this? Do you have favorite animals? Things like that even if it’s not any of the things I mentioned,” I say happily and rock Fenella some more.
Sabrina is the first person here since we got here that has actually had a conversation with me. Gigi was so short with me. Speaking of whuch, what the devil are her and Corin talking about for so long? Are they picking wedding decor already?
