A New Hope

I let out a slow deliberate laugh. He has no idea about the ghosts I speak of. I swirl the last bit of rum around the bottle. Curtesy says I pass it back to him, but he’s hit a sore spot so I down the last bit without a second thought.

”Ghosts in here.” I point to my head with two fingers like the barrel of a gun and the others holding the empty bottle. ”The ones that make you hate yourself. There are ghosts in those woods. Trust me. I see them every night.”

The only other Mallrat who knew about Bootcamp was Ryan and he’s not here. I don’t owe Zak anything about that time. This isn’t a campfire story about what happens in the woods during 5 mile runs.

”I know about girls lurking in woods. They’ll come out soon enough.”

I swallow as Alice told me that she was glad that i didn’t leave her. Not sure if i feel better now about Zandra. Alice Interrupt my thoughts as she walks over to the table and grab the bottle of rum.
" But promise to to drink it, when we have found a safe place." i look at her serious. Of course i can understand her, who wouldn’t mind to forgot his sorrows, but we shouldn’t start to be careless…
" We have come so far and i don’t wanted to be caught again just for one evening in no-sworrow-land." i explain, before she asks me to get some rucksacks she might have seen in another part of the boat. I nod and leave the room, walking again throught the dirty rooms till i reach the place i was looking for. The rucksacks seems to be ok so far, just dusty like everthing here. I tap off the dust from them as good as i can and grab a few to bring them back to Alice. On my way back i look to both sides if there is somehting we could use but everything is old and not in the best mood.
" Here, 2 for each of us." i place the Rucksacks in front of the little table.

Zandra and I had managed to enjoy some much needed time and work out our differences in the best way possible. We’d agreed to meet again in a few days so I could keep her appraised of the situation. Our final discussion had been slightly more complicated, she hadn’t quite agreed with my idea however after some further discussion she’d come to realise it was for the best.

Stumbling in to the Techno camp I hold my hand against the cut on my forehead, I needed a reason why I hadn’t been where I said I’d be, a reason I wasn’t out searching for the fugitives and had been out of communication and we already knew they were armed and dangerous. It made perfect sense really.

Zandra had been less than enthusiastic about the thought of hitting me with something, concerned that she might actually do some real damage but I’d eventually persuaded her that it really was our only option if she didn’t want me to be questioned more thoroughly.

“Lieutenant, I need to see the Lieutenant.” I announce, rather more loudly than necessary but I have to make a thorough show of it. My radio has also been slightly damaged, although that had actually happened while i’d been otherwise occupied with Zandra, I think I’d accidentally stepped on it, but it all added to my rouse.

Someone rushes over but I push them away leaving a slightly bloody hand print on their uniform, “I said I need to see the Lieutenant, unless you have suddenly been promoted you are NOT the person I want to see.”

I shake my head “Well my friend maybe if the ghosts come out more when you drink the simple solution do not drink” I tell him “Although I understand the allure of finding the bottom of a bottle is hard to resist especially if you are a little broke so really Lex, no matter what you do it’s more lose lose then win win” I carry on.

Maybe the alcohol was stronger then I realised, because I know I am talking crap and I am pretty sure Lex knows I am talking crap though atleast there is no one else around to witness my talking of crap.

“But back to the topic of girls, I don’t think you can find a girl as easily as you found the alcohol and crown… where did you find them by the way, I am tempted to see if there is anything else of use there?” I grin

When he came up with his idea of me hitting him with something on his head I was in shock, while I understood the thought process behind it it wasn’t something I wanted to do and apparently my idea of just running into a tree wouldn’t work…

But he was insist that he would get a lot worse if he didn’t have a story of why he was missing for so long, he then added if he had left after our first ‘dalliance’ it wouldn’t of been so bad however as I had been rather convincing into him staying a little longer then planned I needed to help him. So I helped him. Now I was sat here and all I could think about was all the blood and hope he got back ok.

Looking up at the sky I bit my lip, I would need to wait until it was lighter before I tries to find my way back.

I am about to reply to Patsy when I hear some one shout “STOP”, I turn, placing myself between Patsy and the voice, I see a techno standing there with his arm held out and zapper armed ready to shoot… “STEP AWAY FROM HER” The techno demands…

"NO!" I reply strongly as I shield Patsy from the danger… Something is familiar about this techno, I can’t put my finger on what it is… “You don’t want to do this” I say firmly, “Let’s talk about this” I say holding up my hands infont of me… “Patsy, stay behind me” I say to her, I look back at the techno… “Please, we mean you no harm, we were just collecting food, my friend and I were hungry…” I still stand protective over Patsy, the same as I have since I met her…

The words of wisdom from KC about my intake of the rum feel so odd coming from him. I remember when we had some booze back in the mall and he was so young and desperate to be allowed to drink. It wasn’t a good idea as he became so drunk within seconds. Now as the strappy lad he is, he is dishing out when and where I can drink it, and not dying to join in the session.

After the lecture KC takes heed of fetching the rucksacks from by the entrance. In his absence I scurry around the room looking for anything we can salvage.

I start with the small chest that was next to where I had picked up the sheets, small cushion and the incredible rum from earlier. I open the chest and as I had hoped there was additional sheets and another small rounded cushion. I tug them out and throw them on the floor.

And there it was … the jackpot. Laying on the bottom was another bottle of rum. I could not believe my eyes. It seems that the Techno’s have not probably looted this vessel.

Quickly before KC returns I pick out the bottle and start to fold the sheets I had used when I slept. I wrap the bottle I had just found in the sheet keeping it out of sight from KC.

Phew! That was close. KC then returned and placed the rucksacks down. “Brilliant. We must hurry.” I grab 1 of the rucksacks and tuck my folded sheet containing the rum into it. KC had no clue. I then stuff inside my cushion and the bottle of rum I had opened.

“I managed to find you some sheets and a cushion. Take a quick look around here for anything additional whilst I grab some items I spotted in the kitchen. And then without further a do we really must leave!”

I flip my full rucksack on to my back carefully to avoid to much clanging of my 2 bottles of rum. There should be enough sheet to avoid such noise. Thankfully there was no noise. I grab one of the empty ones from the table and carry it by my side as I head to the kitchen.

I place the empty rucksack down. I slide open a drawer and firstly pull out a small tea towel. I place this on the worktop and then from the drawer take out a pair of scissors. I wrap them within the tea towel. Back in the drawer I go and pick out a small box of matches. I pull the box out of the sleeve to discover just 3 matches. Darn that’s it!!! Suppose it is better than none at all.

I bend down to grab my empty rucksack. I tuck the matches into a side pouch and carefully place the wrapped towel inside the main compartment and zip it shut.

Shouting softly but loud enough for KC to hear I say “Time’s up. Get your arse out here. It’s time to disappear underground.”

Lex comes over to me, he lights the fire and places an arm around me, his hand close to my breast… I look down at his hand and then at the smile on his face and feel my belly jump a little… Just then Zac walks over and Lex quickly moves his hand and winks at me… I give him a smile (Not realising that he only wants me because I am there, no other reason)…

“I am going to change, I am cold” I say with a sneeze… I look at Lex and then walk back to the boat for some privacy to change my clothes… When I come back out I look around but Lex had disappeared, Zac is still there by the fire…

“LEX, LEX!” I squeal… but he doesn’t answer, I walk back to the boat to see if he has gone there when I was changing… I huff and sit down on a seat… I look out towards the sea and sigh… Wishing I was back at the safe, dry mall with my mirrors, make up, curlers and clothes… I hear a noise and look back towards the fire and see Lex sitting back with Zac, laughing… I get off the boat and walk back towards them…

“Lex!!.. Lex!!..” I say to him as he laughs with Zac, I spot some bottles beside them as they drink… “Your getting drunk!!” I squeal in my spoilt way, remembering the last time he was drunk he fell asleep on me… They laugh…
I huff and storm off in a temper… I walk into the jungle among the trees, not meaning to go too far or too deep… I hear a rustling noise and jump… I spin looking around, jumping at every noise, thats when I realise I can’t see the beach or the others anymore, I have completely lost my sense of direction and don’t kniw what way to go…

“LEX!! LEX!!” I shout and squeal in a complete panic… Looking in every direction, panicing… How am I going to get back, what way do I go… I slump to the floor, tears fill my eyes when I realise I am alone and I am scared…

“I could definitely use a hand,” Slade smiles at Salene. “Looks like you’re the only help I’m going to get,” he chuckles as Gel passes by a few times. Looks like she has changed her clothes prompting him to shake his head. “Always a fashion show with that one,” he mumbles silently.

“Covers right,” he nods as Sal talks. There wasn’t much rations left for food, he thought of that too, thinking next, maybe he’d check for a tide pool of easy prey like stranded fish and crustaceans. Anything would be better than just coconuts and unknown berries or whatever the group comes back with. “I figure we can set up camp somewhere near Lex’s fire. If we build another that’s drawing too much attention,” He look out towards the jungle. Who knows what’s in there. “He doesn’t have many fears, he’s done a lot of traveling alone and sneaking about dangerous situations, he casts a thought of Ebony before pushing it out of his mind, but an island was different. Islands carry scary mystery and make you feel trapped.

“What do you think?” He questioned Salene as they rummaged on board. He hoped Zac didn’t mind too much they were picking the place apart.

I hadn’t been able to track Debian and when I’d radioed through all I’d got back was static. Ax and the others had appeared and we’d worked together to try and track the figurative but had come up short. The Lieutenant would string us up if we went back empty handed but right now things weren’t looking positive currently.

Growling in frustration I look at the others, “we need to go back into the trees. Perl, can you take the buggy and keep an eye along the beach while Hal and Ada help me look through the trees. Ax, can you scout back the way we’ve come in case they’ve tried to be sneaky?”

Giving instructions wasn’t my strong point, there was a reason I wasn’t higher up the chain but right now I was the highest ranking of the five of us which meant I was in charge.

Moving in to the trees Hal and Ada fan to my sides moving a suitable distance away so we can work together to scan around the surrounding area. We were looking for any signs the ground have been disturbed, any snagged fabric or that kind of thing.

A noise captures my attention and I bring my hand up, stopping the other two in their tracks. There’s a very high pitched voice ahead, surely our fugitives wouldn’t be stupid enough to shout unless they were getting cocky. Another gesture and Ada and Hal start to move around the person shouting as I bring my hand to my stunner.

Once the other two are in place I move forward, taking in the sight in front of me. Whoever she was… she definitely wasn’t one of our fugitives. She looked like one of those dolls you used to see in shops before the virus, how she’d maintained that look on the island was beyond me, unless she hadn’t been here very long. I’m not sure she’s noticed me yet as she slumps to the ground looking dejected. Raising the stunner I gesture subtly for the other two to move forwards so if she attempts to run her way will be blocked. “Stand up slowly with your hands in the air.” I instruct as the others take another step forwards.

Completely absorbed and unaware of anything around me, I cry, I don’t hear the footsteps or the movement around me… When I hear “Stand up slowly with your hands in the air”…

I freeze, I don’t recognise the male voice in the trees, I stand up and look around… I can’t see anyone…
“Who’s there” I ask… “Stop fooling around” I say thinking its one of the others from the boat… Even If I wanted to run away, what way do I go… “I am lost can you help me… please”

Alice starts packing the first two rucksacks an i grab the other ones to fill them. As i place them in front of me i noticed a plonk. I wrinkle my forehead and open the rucksack. wow
" Alice look at this. " i tell her and reach inside the rucksack " 2 torches, an army knife and a little first aid kit. " i add on. I look up as she doesn’t react to me. I sign and pack the rest she has thrown on the floor and shoulder the first rucksack. I stand up and face her as she told me that we need to go." Aye bos, lead the way."

Alice

We step down on to the still damp sand. I twirl around. This truly is a beautiful spot. If only we were just here on holiday I think. Baps out, pecks out laying on the sand watching the sun go down with a mai thai cocktail. I switch away from the thought and look at KC and give him our next instructions.

“I did hear you back on the boat by the way. You found some real handy items, well done. You still have one empty rucksack right? We can plonk some of those coconuts I can see in it.” I point over in the direction of where it seems a couple of coconuts have fallen.

Hunting the sand for crustaceans as we walked, I picked up a couple of washed up crabs, and what looked like shrimp. Once we settle in the passageway I will be very thrilled to dig in and eat them. Finally some food packed with flavour and substance.

After such a gruelling few days since escaping the cages I actually think this is where our luck was beginning to change. I had a good feeling inside. We wouldn’t of achieved it without that not so warm and fluffy Zandra helping us though. I wonder how she got on with that Techno.

Coconuts check. Crustaceans check. Handy items check. And most importantly rum check. We are in a really good place. It’s time to disappear out of sight, and out of mind.

I lead KC over to the rocky outcropping. We stand in front of it, and turn towards each other and smile. I hadn’t really explained where we were going, but the moment we shared just through a smile I just knew he was thrilled of my little discovery.

“Nice huh? You didn’t even know it was here before because of the tide being out. I will go first as I think your going to have to help to push me through the crack.”

Taking a few steps forward I stand facing the crack. I take off my rucksacks and place them down. I then turn sideways and begin to rustle my slender self into the crack. Just eating berries and coconuts was paying off I was slipping through just fine.

“Ow, ow ow. My breasts!” I squeal, I spoke to soon. I wiggle a little but I seem to be stuck. “Fuck! KC it’s time to help me. Gonna scrape my bloody tits off.” I shut my eyes.

" Yeah, everyone else can’t wait to get out of the boat i guess. " i answer Slade and grab a bag while listen to his suggestion of a camp. Honestly i am sure about all this. I have never been a camper, but what he said makes sense and so i nod. " If you say so, i have no much experience in things like that." i nod at him and hold out another bag to him which need to be filled.

KC

I follow Alice along the beach. One rucksack on my back and one in my hand." Hey right here." i answer Alice as she asks me about the empty rucksack and lift my right arm up bit where i am holding it. She nods and after a few stepy she starts collecting seafood. With a smile i open the rucksack and hold it out so she can fill them. " Oh that looks good." i grin. I have never been a big fan of seafood, but after days with all that jungle food i am done. i would eat almost everything.
After a while and with a filled rucksack we reach a outcropping.“Nit sure if this will work that way.” i was about to answer but Alice was faster and starts slipping throught the rocks. I follow her slowly as she suddenly stops. Shouting out for me to help her. Seriously???
“Ok, Alice calm down, breathe.” i slowly slide beside her, grabing her arm. " Let’s make a step backwards together."

My dream didn’t show me this part of me having my knockers stuck in the gap. Taking this option was our only chance of staying free from the Techno’s and my bloody breasts could well jeopardise us from getting to safety.

KC made his way next to me. “Trust me KC this is calm. And I am breathing as I keep feeling my bazooka’s squish up against the rock.” I pause. “Happy to take a step back if it means releasing some pressure on my jugs. Give me a big old tug then please.”

KC

" You can be yure about that." i answer and harden my grip on her arm and place my free hand over her head, to her shoulder, trying to get a hold of her as best as i can." ok, on my counting… 3…2…1… come on"

Alice

KC tightens his hold of my arm, and swings his other arm behind my head to have a good pull from both sides of my wedged frame. He counted me down …

His strength was phenomenal. I shot out of the gap with ease. “Ow, ow, ow” is all I said. Thank goodness I didn’t need to be lubed up.

We were still both in the gap but at least now my breasts were in one piece. I looked down and from my observation it was just slightly wider gap just below my breasts. I bend my knees and start to shimmy back.

“OH FOR FUCK SAKE!”

Again I was stuck and with the bend in my knee it was worse than before. Saying that my boobs were not as compressed. "KC get me out again please.

Jack raises his hand for a high five. For a minute I’m not really sure I want to put my hand up…I hesitate before raising my palm toward him awkwardly. I don’t think I’ve ever high fives to anyone in my life…

“You’re welcome…but I think it was Trudy’s slap that really did the trick. Glad you’re not dead…”

hopefully not brain damaged I think privately, with my hand still raised. this isn’t exactly the type of thank you I was looking for

Luckily it doesn’t took me long, to get Alice out of this. With a sign of relief i was about to get the Rucksacks again as i hear her shouting. i look up at her… she did it again
" Alice, why…." i start but decided to let it be. I let go of the rucksack and carefully come beside her. " Ok, this time we push you throught this." i tell her and place on hand on der shoulder and the other on somehwere between back and hip. " Ready?"

@Jack

Alice

KC comes beside me again and says how this time he will give me a push instead of a pull. He places his hands on me and asks if I am ready?

I give him a look, “I heard what you said you little tyke. Don’t you Alice why me … I am a busty lady with a rather round figure. I am not a Barbie who can just ping straight through.” I pause and give him a fake smile.

“Okay, now I have got that off my chest I am ready. Talking off chest, make sure your hands come no where near my puppies.” I give him a wink. “Now I am ready!”
