I couldn’t hold back a little grin as Alice calls me “Hulk”, she would be able to carry him also. It’s not a big deal…
I follow her and as she has found a good place i lay the body down on the ground. " What do you think? Should we keep his clothes? Maybe we could need them one day?"
Ryan
Patsy takes the bag and asks, which way…
“I’m not sure” I sigh “The islands still crawling with vermin, Cloe had let us out but we don’t know if Alice and KC escaped or were moved, so we need to be careful, the Techno’s could be looking for us all…”
I look at Patsy and give her half a smile sort of…
“We go and we stick to the woods and the trees” I say finally, “We need to stay alert and not drop our guard… We should be able to get some fruit and berries from the woods… Its not alot but might be enough to keep us going until I can get some fish…”
I take Patsy’s hand and lead her to the door of where we have made home… I look poke my head out and look around…
“It’s clear… Are you ready??” I ask her…

Alice
I am stood behind KC as he places the Techno down. He fires questions at me, and I reply with “Just roll him over a few times further into the bush. He can keep that disgusting uniform on. He is as skinny as a pencil, so I can’t see us highlighters getting into it anytime soon.”
I start to giggle and put my hand out to pull KC back up to his feet.
LEX
”Playing Swiss Family Robinson might be the adventure of the lifetime for you lot, but shouldn’t we be focused on getting out of here?”
Fire. We need fire. Why is this such a hard concept? A fire would keep any wild animals away and signal we are here to anyone else who might be lost. ”Splitting up to explore is the stupidest idea and I think you all know it. So go off. I’m gonna stay on the beach warming by a fire, when the rescue ship comes let’s hope you aren’t too deep in the woods to know about it.” I make my point by walking off from the group scanning the sand for any twigs that would work for my fire.
Gel
“Lex don’t leave me here” I say as I follow him down the beach…
I don’t want to be left with the others, I want to be near Lex as hes strong and can protect me… I am still wet and want to be near the fire to dry off…
Jack
Wow, Lex is just unbelievable. I just cannot believe he is still adamant to stay on the beach.
“Your choice, good luck. Think your be waiting sometime for a rescue ship,” I say as Lex wanders off.
I am pretty certain he hadn’t heard me as Gel’s panic stricken screams to Lex drowned me out. But I reckon even he had heard me he would of just ignored.
Right it’s now or never … “Trudy … Ebony … wait for me I am coming with you.”
I start to jog to catch them up …
EBONY:
I hear Jack call out to us and I smile to myself. I give him a coy glance as he falls into step beside me.
I don’t exactly know where we’re going, so I don’t say anything I just kind of let Trudy walk a step ahead.
I still have a funny feeling about Trudy. She’s walking almost like she knows exactly where she’s going.
Trudy
I’m glad to atleast have Ebony and Jack with me, though I can’t believe Lex.
“Can you believe it? Why on earth would Lex volunteer to stay on a beach?! Being on a beach hardly ever ends well for him…”
I roll my eyes as I think of all the bad stuff we’ve been through on beaches… The gathering, the buggies… and well… him almost getting killed by the Chosen…
My stomach drops as I realize why this place feels so familiar to me. I’ve been here before… back then… oh crap…oh crap… this IS the place…
I look back to the beach, hoping Ram is coming with us… because I suddenly feel the desperate need to talk to him
Jack
I am now in line next to Ebony who has a little glint in her eye. She obviously wasn’t fazed being away from Slade unless he still decided to join us. Just like Ellie and I it seemed rather tense between them.
Over Ebony’s head I can see Brady bobbing up and down snuggled up on Trudy’s back in Gel’s scarf, it made me smile, she looked very cute.
I have a little think of how Trudy has been such a good mother to Brady. She has been through years of hell bringing her up, and I just had a sick feeling in my stomach that it probably wasn’t going to get any better for her on this unknown territory. I just hope for Trudy’s sake the madness is no more.
I hear Trudy speak badly of Lex, I feel it necessary to add, “Does anything end well when Lex is involved.”
Trudy looks back over to the Mallrats on the beach … I obviously wasn’t the only one who was hoping at least 1 or 2 others would join us …
Alice
KC took my hand and made us both laugh with his reply to me. It was so amazing to be able to laugh again.
With KC standing next to me, I just couldn’t help myself, I threw my arms around him and gave him a big squeeze. I had a inkling he was not fond of the cuddles but with our ordeal I think he knew he had to embrace the hugs without a fuss.
I loosen my grip and speak “Can you please collect up those coconuts back over by the tree. Use the empty pillow case, we don’t want squashed berries.”
I go back over to the Techno, and crouch down and strap his stunner back on to his arm. I felt it was best to leave it on his person. That way it didn’t point the finger at us, a animal could of attacked him.
I grab at a couple of nearby branches and yank. They come off in my hand. I dump them across the Techno. I step back out of the long grass and have a look and I breathe a sigh of relief as he is not noticeable from the clearer open space.
I take a moment to myself and rub my eyes. I am completely exhausted. The last couple of days were beginning to take there toll …
KC
What the hell… but it was to late, Alice give me bear hug. I place my hand on her back and run one hand down her back. Then suddenly she let go and turn to the techno.
She would never admit it, but i guess he is done for today.
" Sure i can, come." i take her hand and lead her back the way we came. " I will bring the coconuts and you get inside an lay down. I will bring everything inside and take the shift of guard duty." i look at her seriously, no wanting any answering back
Alice
I acknowledge what KC says and I am ever so grateful. I really must rest.
I give him another squeeze. As I do this I have the biggest grin on my face.
I go on just ahead of KC. I enter the dark building … I start to count my steps.
I reach my bed and lay on my back. I think if i get just a few hours that would be enough. I had decided that after my snooze it was best if KC and I moved on. We hadn’t seen any other buildings since we escaped the cage, so after that Techno being so close to it, i just knew it wouldn’t be long til more arrived.
I roll on to my side and rather quickly nod off … 
LOTTIE
I narrow my eyes at Jack, calling me the flavor of the month. I want to scream, literally. Nobody really cares about what I want.
Groaning in frustration as plans just take off all around me, I throw up my hands looking at Salene. “I don’t need a baby sitter!” Why can’t anyone see that? I was taking care of myself just fine without my brothers.
“Just forget it! I’ll go play in the sand like a good, little baby!” I hope someone, Jack perhaps, trips in quicksand or poison ivy! No, I don’t, not really, but it would make me feel better.
I take off in no particular direction. After being cramped on a boat with all of them, it’ll be nice to just be by myself. Maybe I can build my own shelter. That’ll show them.
KC
I wait till Alice was back in the buliding before i turn arround and walk back to the place where she has left the pillow and the cocnuts. I start collecting them and look arround from time to time. Just in case another Techno would show up …
Salene
" Lottie wait" i call out after the little girl as leave the boot. " We need to stay together and if you are really able to climb a tree, you would be a big help." I stop and watch after her. I know how stubborn she could be, but if she will have a job to do for the group then maybe she would calm down
Being in his room was something Paul enjoyed after he had seen her again. The girl whom he had not seen since the virus first happen. The girl he had left behind, to scared of Lex to say anything to anyone. Paul had loved Salene, Cloe and Patsy. Thought the mall had not felt like a home. The feeling of not being accepted or believed like he felt the others were. That was a while ago, he had a new life now.
A new life up until now. Cloe had been brought back into his life, she had told him about his sister. How they needed to help her escape, help Ryan escape. He wasn’t certain about how it had happen, the moment he saw her he had been wearing his mask, and had frozen in his steps. Couldn’t move, now she was out there somewhere. She wasn’t safe, it would be his job to keep her safe. To make sure the others didn’t find her.
He had taken off the headsets that the technos had fixed for him to hear, he needed quiet to think. Feeling the vibrations of someone getting closer to the door he sat up and started to put the hearing aid into his ear. Nodding his head Paul agrees. “the old shipwreck” he repeats. Thought in his head all he can think about is his sister. “Now?” he asks as he gets up from where he’s been sitting.
Listening to Ryan speaking she tries to think positive. But its hard, regret is hard. They should have acted sooner. Now they are no longer there, no longer to be seen. Sighing Patsy turns and walks with Ryan as he leads her to the door. Waiting for him to check if its clear she takes a step outside. “as ready as I ever can be” she says looking over at him. “lets hurry off the streets” she ads and hurries towards the trees.
Stopping next to a tree she looks over her shoulder at Ryan. “You do know we will have to go further and further to find fresh berries?” She asks him a bit worried.
DEBIAN
Paul asks if we need to go now and I nod, “I think the sooner the better, the commander seemed pretty eager to get it done.” I explain, “we aren’t the only party going out to search,” I add. The thought of what the search parties could find makes me feel slightly nauseous and i’m eager to get going.
Waiting for Paul to check the stunner at my waist, making sure the settings are correct. “We’ve been allocated such a large area I think we’d be best to split up,” I suggest. “That was we can cover more ground, make sure we don’t miss anywhere.”
Turning I head out of the barracks, knowing that Paul will keep up. The old shipwreck isn’t too far from base, but its far enough that I know the others wouldn’t come this way to search. “If you head down towards the beach, I’ll take the trees.” I suggest. “Rendezvous back here in say one hour?” An hour would be enough time for us to conduct a thorough search, make sure that no stone was left unturned.
“I’m presuming they want them alive,” I add to Paul. The commander hasn’t specified but if they were prisoners of interest I had a feeling they wouldn’t want them returned dead, couldn’t interrogate them that way. “Right, see you in an hour.”
I haven’t really given Paul much time to argue with what I’ve said, but we have a job to do and the sooner we got it done, the better. Nodding once I turn and head into the trees, there was plenty of ground to cover and an hour didn’t give me that much time to do what I needed to do.
Zandra
I stop in my spot and turn in a circle, had I walked in the wrong direction? It was looking familiar here and not in the ‘all trees look the same’ way but clearing as well. I hadn’t walked further from the cages as I thought, when had I got turned around? All I remember is walking straight.
Frustration takes over and I stomp my foot tightening my hands into fists like a child who had built a tower and had a sibling knock it down so all the work was for nothing.
I push a lock of hair out of my hair as I tried to work out what to do but I am suddenly startled by a quiet noise not far from me so I move quietly and press my back against the nearest tree. I can’t get caught again. I wouldn’t of heard it I had been walking myself so I feel kinda lucky I stopped when I did.
I hold my breath and close my eyes and try listening to any sounds but there is nothing. I move around the tree and instantly lock eyes with him and let go of the breath I was still holding as I ran over practically jumping onto him and kissing his lips before pulling back as relief washed over me that it was him. My saviour.
DEBIAN
Wrapping my arms around her waist a let out a quiet chuckle before pulling back slightly “Is that how you greet every techno you see?” I ask her before glancing over my shoulder. “Come on, let’s get out of here.”
Gently entwining my fingers with hers I lead her towards our meeting spot, the one we’d arranged after I’d helped her escape. I knew she’d pick up on the fact I was more tense than usual, but I didn’t want to talk until I was sure we were somewhere secure.
I’d found a small shed on one of my many patrols and had guided Zandra there after her escape. Getting her out hadn’t been easy, not when everything was usually managed so thoroughly but after some work I’d managed it and then I’d covered my tracks, claimed she’d succumbed to something while I was transporting her from one section of the island to another and just dumped her remains like a virt. It had raised some eyebrows and I’d been watched for a few weeks but once things had settled I’d been able to go back and make sure Zandra was safe, and whenever I could I’d taken her food or fabric for clothing, it wasn’t much but it was the best I could offer her.
Once we are inside the shed I pull her closer, my arm moving around her petite waist “now, where were we?”
